Installation and selection of check valves

Notes on installing the check valve:

1. Because the check valve is easily damaged, the check valve should be installed close to the pump outlet. A shut-off valve (usually a ball valve or a gate valve) is provided on the upper part of the check valve for easy maintenance.

2. The check valve medium on the standpipe flows from bottom to top.

3. Pay attention to the direction of media flow when installing. It should be consistent with the direction of the arrow marked on the valve body.

The criteria for selection according to the nominal diameter are as follows.

For high and medium pressure check valves with DN < 50 or less, vertical lift check valves and straight lift check valves are preferred.

For low pressure check valves with DN < 50 or less, wafer check valves, vertical lift check valves and diaphragm check valves are preferred.

For high and medium pressure check valves with 50<DN<600, a swing check valve should be used.

For the 200<DN<1200 medium and low pressure check valve, a wear-free ball check valve should be used.

For low pressure check valves of 50<DN<2000, wafer check valves and diaphragm check valves are preferred.

For pipelines requiring a small water hammer impact or waterless blow when shutting down, a slow-closed swing check valve and a slow-closed wafer check valve should be used.
