What is the difference between electric butterfly valve and manual butterfly valve? From a literal point of view, we can clearly see that the difference between the two is that one is electric drive and the other is manual operation. Besides, is there any difference in function and purpose between electric butterfly valve and manual butterfly valve? See BAND VALVES for your introduction.

The electric butterfly valve is composed of an electric actuator and a butterfly valve. There are two control modes: switch and regulation. The rotation of the electric actuator drives the opening and closing of the butterfly valve. At the same time, the electric butterfly valve also has a manual operation function, which is convenient for switching the butterfly valve through manual operation in the event of a power failure.

The difference between electric butterfly valve and manual butterfly valve
There are two types of electric butterfly valves: ordinary type and intelligent type. Ordinary type, when the motor is switched on, the valve can be opened or closed, depending on the forward and reverse rotation of the motor; intelligent type such as AC380V, after AC380V is supplied, the motor does not move, and the internal control circuit board can work. When inputting 4-20mA current to it, do the corresponding action. Closed at 4mA, open at 20mA. And there is a 4-20mA analog feedback signal to reflect its valve opening size.

In the early days, electric butterfly valves appeared to be installed in places where manual operation was impossible, such as high altitudes or environments with toxic media. With the development of science and technology, electric butterfly valve technology is becoming more and more mature, even with artificial intelligence, to realize the application of electric butterfly valve in more fields.

Application areas of electric butterfly valves include canning/bottle systems, beer brewing and beverage technology, chemical industry, fluid mixing devices, food, industrial concrete and cement industries, vacuum technology, water treatment devices, laundry rooms, medical equipment, boiler feed water, Process control.

The manual butterfly valve, as its name implies, requires manual operation to realize the opening or closing of the butterfly valve. In view of this operation method, the manual butterfly valve is not suitable for installation in high altitude or dangerous working environment.

The most important point of the installation environment of manual butterfly valves is to facilitate manual operation. The valve installation position must be convenient for daily operation of personnel and future maintenance. It has been demonstrated that the best position for manual valve installation is about 1.2 meters from the operating floor.

Manual butterfly valves are divided into handle butterfly valves and worm gear butterfly valves. When the handle or handwheel is turned counterclockwise, the butterfly valve opens; when the handle or handwheel is turned clockwise, the butterfly valve closes.

Under normal circumstances, manual butterfly valves are suitable for use in: 1. Throttling, regulating and controlling flow; 2. Mud media and media containing solid particles; 3. Applications requiring short valve structure length; 4. Applications requiring fast opening and closing speed; 5. Occasions where the pressure difference is small.
